PAINTING USED ON MAGAZINE COVER

I would like to thank Sharon Seltz of Country Woman Magazine for her article about me and my work in the October/November 2009 issue. The painting of canned preserves on a windowsill shown here was featured on the entire back cover of the magazine. Read the complete interview.

This still life watercolor painting called PRESERVING THE HARVEST  was intended to arouse our sense of smell. The open window welcomes the fresh autumn aromas into the farmhouse. The tangle of bittersweet vine has lost its leaves - only clusters of red and orange berries remain. The fresh smell of fallen leaves is evident as the gentle flutter of the lace curtain announces the arrival of a red maple leaf that has floated in on the breeze and landed next to the mason jar of home-made pear preserves. The sweet cooking smells that linger after canning peaches, pears and plum jam are inviting. One special jar has been carefully and lovingly decorated with ribbon and lace doily - a gift from the heart for a special friend.

The original painting is sold; however, limited edition prints are still available and I welcome your inquiry into the commission of your own original watercolor, oil on canvas or acrylic painting or wall mural of your favorite photograph of a window scene. Masculine still life art is also available.
